What Is Information Literacy?
Information literacy may be referred to as critical thinking skills, research skills, 21st century skills, or lifelong learning. No matter which term you use, it is fundamental to making sense of the explosion of information available to everyone today. Learning the basic steps of the research process is a key component of information literacy.

Research Process Overview
The research process typically includes five broad steps. Most often you complete one step before moving onto the next. However, there may be times when you will need to return to a previous step or complete multiple steps simultaneously.
Step 1. Develop Your Topic Developing a good research question can sometimes be the most difficult part of the research process
Step 2. Search Strategies What is a search term? Brainstorm for ideas.
Step 3. Find Credible and Relevant Sources Learn the difference between Popular and Scholarly Sources
Step 4. Evaluate Information Learn how to determine if a source is reliable and appropriate for your assignment.
Step 5. Comply with Legal, Ethical and Moral Standards Do you know what plagiarism is? Are you sure?
