Account Guide for SCRC: Doing Research

Use this guide to learn how to register for an SCRC Researcher Account, schedule an appointment, request special collections materials for use in the Breckinridge Research Room, and order digital scans of special collections materials.

Oral History Access

Oral histories are delivered as a digital file.  Users will need a Researcher Account to request copies but do not need a Breckinridge Research Room appointment to access recordings.

How Do I Find and Request Oral Histories?

STEP 1: VISIT SPOKEdb

Search or browse oral histories in the UK Libraries Nunn Center for Oral History database at kentuckyoralhistory.org.

STEP 3: ADD INTERVIEW TO CART

After reading the interview rights statement, click "Add Interview to Cart".

STEP 4: PROCEED TO CHECKOUT

Select the cart icon to review your requests, then select "Proceed to Checkout".

STEP 5: ACCEPT TERMS OF USE

Read the Nunn Center for Oral History's user agreement and select "I accept" to agree to the terms of use.

STEP 6: COMPLETE REQUEST DETAILS AND SUBMIT

Select your intended use for the interview and add any details or special requests associated with your project, then select "Submit".

STEP 7: TRACK YOUR REQUEST

That's it! Once you submit your request, you will be taken to your Research Services Account. If you do not have an account, you will be prompted to register. From your account, you can track all of your SCRC requests.
