University of Kentucky Libraries Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

Held at the Lucille Caudill Little Fine Arts Library, 9am - 5pm on Monday, March 20, 2017.

Kentucky Women Artists site

This site was created by Betty Lyn Parker and Susan Knoer with a grant from the Kentucky Foundation for Women and includes a growing list of women artists from Kentucky who were born before 1950 with as much biographical information as the researchers can find. Some artists already have Wikipedia pages that can be expanded; others still need to be created.

"Kentucky Women Artists" exhibition in western Kentucky, 2001

48 women artists working from 1850 up to 1970 were included in a 2001 exhibition held at Western Kentucky University's Kentucky Museum and the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art. This accompanying website lists them with images of their work. Some artists already have Wikipedia pages that can be expanded; others still need to be created.

There is also a print catalogue for the 2001 exhibition held at the Kentucky Museum and Owensboro Museum of Fine Art. While the online site above covers artists up to 1970, the print exhibition catalogue also includes more contemporary artists working up to 2000. The catalogue is available at the University of Kentucky Libraries and we will bring it to the Edit-a-thon.

Wikipedia stubs

c. 150 articles about artists from Kentucky (men and women) are currently listed in this Wikipedia category. Some are just stubs which could be expanded. You can also expand this category by adding any articles you create or expand if they are not already listed here.

At the UK Libraries' first Art+Feminism Edit-a-thon in 2015, the event sponsors created a list of biographies needing attention, and many could use still more!
