MNG 101: Professional Societies for Mining Engineers

Fall 2010.

Professional Societies for Mining Engineers

Professional societies are a good source of information for research and scholarly articles. They generally host annual conferences where their members present their latest research, which they generally publish later in member journals or proceedings.

Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME) - Primary organization for mining professionals.

  • OneMine.org - Contains conference papers and proceedings, technical articles, books and late papers from the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers (AIME), International Marine Minerals Society (IMMS), National Institute for Occupational Health and Safety (NIOSH), Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM), and the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME). Note: Requires membership to one of the participating societies to get full-text documents or pay-as-you-go, which is expensive. If you are a UK student but not a member of one of these societies, please check InfoKat or the E-Journals Database to see if we own the item, or order it through Interlibrary Loan. Do not pay to get an article from this site.
