What is Radio Eye's A Signal Affair?

A Signal Affair logo

A Signal Affair is our 3rd casino benefit. It will take place October 6th from 6-10 PM at the Lyric Theatre, and celebrates 27 years of providing access to print information to people who can’t read due to a disability.

Funds raised at the event will support the mission of Radio Eye by ensuring that people who are blind, visually impaired, or have any disability that makes reading difficult or impossible have access to the same printed material that a sighted person has.

This is one of the only events in Lexington where attendees can play craps and roulette (and learn how to play the games in a low-stakes environment), and square off against friends at blackjack and poker – all while benefiting a nonprofit that helps over 9,700 people statewide.

A Signal Affair is Cocktail Casual and will have plenty of fun prizes for you to spend your winnings on! Save the date and start charming Lady Luck because this is one event you do not want to miss!

Become a Sponsor

I would like to invite you to become a sponsor of our 3rd casino night event on October 6, 2017 at the Lyric Theatre.

This is one of the only events in Lexington where attendees can play craps and roulette (and learn how to play the games in a low-stakes environment), and square off against friends at blackjack and poker – all while benefiting a nonprofit that helps over 9,800 people statewide.

One attendee said, “My family and I would like to thank you for the wonderful night we had at your casino night. My son and husband planned to come for a few minutes then go have dinner, but we were drawn in by the food, company, and of course, the craps table!!”

Your sponsorship will support the mission of Radio Eye by ensuring that people who are blind, visually impaired, or have any disability that makes reading difficult or impossible have access to the same printed material that a sighted person has. The majority of our listeners (70%) are economically disadvantaged.

As the only radio reading service in Kentucky, Radio Eye provides unmatched services. We serve 39 counties in the state, including Boyle, Clark, Clay, Fayette, Franklin, Jessamine, Knox, Laurel, Madison, Scott, and Woodford.

One of the people you’re helping is Mike and his new guide dog, Tommy. Mike has an amazing memory and remembers the day he received his first Radio Eye radio, September 1, 1991, and even remembers the three volunteer readers who did the Herald-Leader that morning - Pete, Ethel, and Audrey!

Mike says, “I enjoy listening to the Herald-Leader. It makes me feel like I can read the paper, even though I really can’t. But it sort of gives me that feeling. And I love the readers that are on the Herald-Leader, especially the Thursday crew. Not only do I enjoy the Herald-Leader, but also the Mt. Sterling Advocate, [which] is our home paper here in Mt. Sterling, and I like listening to that.”

Your fiscal support as a sponsor enables the continued success of Radio Eye and ensures some of our most vulnerable citizens will continue to receive needed information they can’t get in other ways.

If you'd like more information, or would like to become a sponsor, please contact me at amy.hatter@radioeye.org or 859-422-6392.

Thank you!
