Art in the Lucille Caudill Little Fine Arts Library: Fay Moore

information about art in the permanent exhibit at the Lucille Caudill Little Fine Arts Library

Biography of Fay Moore

Fay Moore is best known for her thoroughbred racing scenes. She spends times in Versailles each year, gathering subject material and teaching pastel techniques to groups of artists.  In the 1960s, when she began attending the races in Saratoga, New York, few, if any, women artists were known for portraying sports.  "I experienced it as a fabulous landscape of horses with brilliant colors provided by the jockey silks.  A horse is like a wonderful nude, but with a horse, you see how the muscles work so much more than with a human nude."
