Biography of Kathy Johnson

In addition to donating artworks and funding to create the Lucille Caudill Little Fine Arts Library's collection of Kentucky art, Kathy Johnson is an artist herself.  She studied fashion design at the University of Cincinnati and received her BA in Art History from the University of Kentucky.  Johnson also studied the art of pastel with Fay Moore, and has exhibited at Heike Pickett Gallery and M.S. Rezny Studio & Gallery.  She and her husband David, a retired University of Kentucky Professor of Mathematics, live in Lexington.

Regarding the aesthetic appeal of the Lucille Caudill Little Fine Arts Library Johnson states:  "Most people do not grow up with art in their house.  They can live with art here.  That's really nice.  There's a real reminder that there are people in Kentucky that are producing.  I think Kentucky is very rich with writers and poets - and also with artists."   ("Fine Arts Library Benefactors Enjoy Living with Art"A New Call:  the University of Kentucky Campaign Newsletter, Vol. 1, No. 2, June 2005, p. 5)
