CME 780: Getting Started

This guide provides a wide variety of resources all in one place that you may not realize are available to you as researchers. Databases are the primary tools scientists, engineers and academics start with when researching a new product or invention. UK Libraries provides a wide variety of commercial and academic databases, journals, datasets and other resources which will enhance your research. We are here to help assist you so please reach out.

Welcome to the CME 780 Course Guide!  Here you will find a variety of resources from databases to help planning your research. You will find both Jan and my contact information along with links so you can set up consult appointments with us.  All the information in class will be provided within this guide. Please contact us if you have any questions or need assistance finding information.

About Your Librarians

Hi, I'm Jan Carver, the Chemistry, Physics & Astronomy, and Math & Statistics Librarian. My interests are working with SciFinder Scholar, EndNote and patents.

In this role I support students and faculty in the College of Engineering and in the science programs in the College of Arts and Sciences.  Prior to coming to UK I worked in the private sector at NASA and Lexmark.

About Your Librarian

Hi, I'm Sue Smith the engineering librarian at the  University of Kentucky... Most of my career has been spent in corporate research libraries such as Texaco Inc.. (headquarters), National Steel Corporation, PolyOne, and other corporations.. As a result,  have a great deal of experience working with a wide variety of engineers from petroleum exploration engineers to polymer scientists and finding answers to some very difficult and sometimes unusual questions..
