Organizations

2019 marked the fiftieth anniversary of the World Saxophone Congress. Begun in 1969 as a one-day event, it has grown to a five-day convention hosted internationally every three years. The Congress is organized by the International Saxophone Committee. Its goals to "elevate the status of the saxophone" include the commission and performance of new repertoire, the presentation of recital programs and clinics, and the establishment of methods of communication among saxophonists.

The ISC's website has information about the upcoming Congress. The Congress itself has its own website, located here. Each World Saxophone Congress features:

  • Concerts and recitals
  • Performances of newly commissioned works
  • Master classes
  • Clinics
  • Lectures
  • Competitions
