The Music Theory Division of the UK School of Music uses the Chicago style for formatting and citations.  Use these resources if you are unsure how to use this style or need to organize your research.

Citation Programs and Extensions

EndNote logoEndNote is supported by the University of Ketucky and any UK student, faculty, or staff member may download a free, licenced copy from UK Software Downloads.  UK currently supports newest version EndNote X9.  EndNote allows you to collaborate your research with others, helps find other resources that are best-fit for your research, and creates, formats and updates bibliographies with the convenience of remote access.  Login with LinkBlue credentials is required.  The product key, needed to authorize installation, will be listed on a text file that is downloaded along with the installation file.  Available for both Mac and Windows.

Zotero logoZotero is a free and open source research program that allows you to collect, organize, cite, and share your research.  The program is based primarily on your computer rather than a cloud and boasts a low to no data sharaing.  Using the browser extension, you can automatically import information from databases, like JSTORE.  Limited backup available online for free, but more storage is available for a fee.  Available for Mac, Windows, and Linux.

mendeley company logoMendeley is a free web and desktop reference management system.  InfoKat supports exporting to Mendeley as you search and find resources.  The Mendeley Reference Manager stores, organizes and allows you to search your references in one location.  The Mendeley Cite extension allows you to easily insert references and bibliographies into Microsoft Word documents.  The  Reference Manager also allows you to read, highlight and annotate PDFs, and keep those notes in one loctaion.  Mendeley allows the sharing of references to support collaboration.  Available for OS, iOS, Windows, and Android.
