The Rebecca Caudill papers (dated 1903-1985, undated; 40.98 cubic feet; 57 boxes, 4 oversize boxes, 1 item) primarily comprise book drafts and research materials, professional correspondence with publishers and agents, personal correspondence with family and readers, and scrapbooks of clippings and pamphlets that review and celebrate the works of the acclaimed Appalachian children's author.
 
James Still was a poet, short story writer, children's author, novelist, folklorist, teacher and librarian. Although born in Alabama, Still spent most of his life in Kentucky and centered many of his writings around the coal fields of eastern Kentucky. Papers include manuscripts, published materials, biographical materials, financial records, correspondence, interviews, book reviews, promotional materials, and memorabilia.
 
The Isabel McLennan McMeekin papers (dated 1850s-1950s, bulk 1940-1950; 0.9 cubic feet; 4 boxes) consist of manuscripts, photographs, a civil war scrapbook, and a book jacket, which document McMeekin's work as an author.
 
The Robert Penn Warren papers (dated 1916-1971; 28 cubic feet; 57 boxes) primarily consists of prepublication drafts for many of Warren's works, documenting his career as an author, poet, and playwright.
 
The Harriette Simpson Arnow papers (54.71 cubic feet, dated 1907-2004) provide a broad look at the writer’s life and work. Included are materials that document her writing process, correspondence with family, editors, and publishers, as well as book reviews, scholarly articles, and dissertations written about Arnow’s work.
 
The James Hines literary papers (dated 1925-2009; 3 cubic feet; 8 boxes) comprise manuscripts, published articles, song lyrics, and correspondence that document James Hines' literary career.
