Architecture and Design Special Collections: Archives

The Carolyn Murray-Wooley collection on Lexington, Kentucky residential architecture consists of the photographic records created by The Bluegrass Trust for Historic Preservation of houses under consideration for their advocacy during the 1960 to 1974 period.

This is a microfilmed copy of a scrapbook containing clippings, notes, programs, papers, and photographs related to Lexington, KY, architect, Cincinnatus Shryock.

The Postcard Collection at the University of Kentucky's Special Collections consists of over 50,000 postcards published between 1890-1990, representing several publishing eras and dozens of subjects, states and countries, and postcard publishers and manufacturers. Postcards range in subject matter from horse racing, coal mining, buildings and monuments, geographic features, industries and famous Kentuckians.

The Richard B. Isenhour architectural drawings, (dated 1952-1989; 1.5 cubic feet; 10 folders) comprise construction drawings for homes built in Lexington, Kentucky, by architect Richard B. Isenhour, who heavily used the mid-century modern architectural style.

The William B. Scott collection on Kentucky Architecture (dated 1855-1960; 3 cubic feet; 1 flat box, 3 case folders, 6 boxes of rolled drawings) consists of architectural plans, drawings, notebook, and ledger collected by William B. Scott, architectural historian, mainly documenting various architecture firms and individual buildings in Louisville and Frankfort, Kentucky.

The Frankel and Curtis architectural records (dated 1897-1974, undated; 10 cubic feet; 161 tubes, 5 boxes) comprises architectural drawings, photographs, newspaper clippings, scrapbooks, financial records relating to L.K. Frankel, and building specifications documenting the firm's designs at various stages of completion, from architectural plans and specifications to finished buildings.
