The Caroline Cox Morgan family papers (dated 1839-1863, undated; 0.45 cubic feet; 82 items) comprise correspondence between various Cox and Morgan family members in Kentucky and Texas relating to the Texas Revolution, the Mexican War, and the California Gold Rush as well as daily life.

The Clarence Hodge letters (1899-1901) comprise letters from Clarence to his mother, Anna, and sister, Clara, while he was serving in the US Army in the Spanish-American War from 1899-1901.

The Collection on Manuscript Documents from Spain (1139-1798) includes legal documents, ecclesiastical records, and personal papers in Latin, Spanish, Catalan, French, and Italian generated by Spanish dukes, counts, clerics, students, merchants, property owners, and many others.

The Eugene H. Thompson, Jr. papers (dated 1868-1965) comprises correspondence, newspaper clippings, papers, and publications that detail the Civilian Public Service during World War II, the pacifism movement in the United States, language studies, and Eugene Thompson's family.

John Fox, Jr. was a war correspondent during the Spanish American War. The Fox family correspondence comprises numerous letters sent from and received by members of the Fox family between 1852 and 1920, including a 1948 letter to John Fox, Jr. from T.R. Roosevelt.

The Harry and Clara Puls-Hope letters (dated 1872-1926) comprise letters that document the relationship of Harry Hope and Clara Puls in Missouri at the change from the nineteenth to the twentieth century.

The Henry Clay Memorial Foundation papers (dated 1777-1991) contain papers and photographs from the Clay, McDowell, and Bullock families as well as a small amount of operating records for the foundation. Of particular interest are items related to Henry Clay Jr., who served as a Lieutenant Colonel during the Mexican War. Highlights include Henry Clay, Jr.’s Mexican War diaries as well as letters of condolence and mementos sent to Henry Clay upon the death of Henry, Jr. at the Battle of Buena Vista.

The Maria Isabel Mendoza papers (1975-1987) comprise letters that document everyday life and family relationships in El Salvador and California during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The Olive Cleveland travel diary (dated 1923) consists of a diary kept by Olive during her cruise on board the Mauretania with her husband, Alfred E. Cleveland, from February to April 1932. Cleveland details the places they saw and the culture on board the cruise ship. Spain, Algiers, Greece, Egypt, Lisbon, and Paris were among the places that the couple explored.

The Thomas L. Smith letters (dated 1891-1910) comprise letters that document Thomas Smith and wife during his military service stateside and abroad at the turn of the twentieth century.

This is a small but significant collection of correspondence by President Zachary Taylor.The letters follow his military and political career through his service during the War of 1812, in the swamps of Florida in the 1830s, and in Texas and Mexico during the Mexican War. Most notable is a letter to Dr. R. G. Wood written from Aqua Nueva, Mexico on March 1, 1847, shortly after the Battle of Buena Vista. Also included is a single but lengthy letter to Dr. Wood written by Taylor in Monterey, Mexico on October 12, 1847, where he discusses the Mexican War and the actions of several military officers.
