The search box in InfoKat Discovery has five options that allow you to search different parts of UK Libraries collections:
The main Search option searches everything in InfoKat Discovery! In addition to the books, videos, and other resources you can find in the library catalog, this tab also searches articles and databases; you can even restrict your search to only peer-reviewed journals to make sure you're getting only high quality references for your research.
Library Catalog searches many types of resources owned by UK Libraries, including books, journals, videos, government documents, maps, and theses/dissertations. You can find both physical and electronic materials, so the book you find might be available as a print book or an ebook; the video you find might be available to stream, or to borrow as a DVD! If there's a specific format you need, you can refine your search to specify that.
Course Reserves searches only materials that are currently on reserves for courses at UK. You can search by Course Code (like "cs" or "CS 470"), Course Name (like "history" or "History of Appalachia"), or Course Instructor (like "John" or "John Smith").
Local Collections searches digital collections from the University of Kentucky. Currently it searches ExploreUK, which is full of digitized special collections like yearbooks, photographs, newspapers (like The Kentucky Kernel), maps, and the minutes of the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees.
WorldCat searches a separate catalog of books and selected items housed at libraries beyond UK. It's a good place to check if we don't have something that you know exists out there somewhere.
