The deadline to register to vote in Kentucky is October 5, 2020 by 4:00 p.m. EST.  You can register online in a few easy steps by clicking the following link: Kentucky Online Voter Registration

You are eligible to vote in Kentucky if you meet the following requirements: 

• Be a U.S. citizen and a Kentucky resident for at least 28 days before the election
• Be at least 18 years old by the next General Election
• Not be a convicted felon, or else have had your civil rights restored
• Not have been adjudged mentally incompetent and had voting rights removed
• Not claim the right to vote outside Kentucky

If you are concerned about contracting or spreading COVID-19, you may request an absentee ballot by applying at the online portal by October 9 at 11:59 p.m. EST. You must first be registered to vote. You can either return the ballot by mail or return it in a designated drop box at the following locations:

• Tates Creek Branch Library, 3628 Walden Dr.
• Northside Branch Library, 1733 Russell Cave Road
• Beaumont Branch Library, 3080 Fieldstone Way
• Lexington Senior Center, 195 Life Lane (behind Southland Christian Church on Richmond Road)
• BCTC Leestown Campus, 164 Opportunity Way
• County Clerk Office (162 E. Main St.)

Absentee ballot drop boxes will be deployed by October 1 and will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.The boxes are bright blue and are identified as a "Ballot Drop Box."

NOTE: If you intend to vote in person, do not request a mail-in ballot. Once you have requested an absentee ballot, you can't vote in person unless you don't receive the ballot by October 28.

Registered voters may vote in person, either before election day or on election day (Nov. 3). Early voting will take place October 13 through November 2, Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Election Day, the hours will be 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Dunbar Center, 545 N. Upper St.

• Wellington Elementary, 3280 Keithshire Way
• Garrett Morgan Elementary, 1150 Passage Mound Way

All voters must produce identification at the polling place. More information on the types of identification that can be provided can be found at the following link: SB 2 FAQ.pdf. Your University of Kentucky student identification card is a valid form of identification for voting.
