The University of Kentucky Libraries selects, preserves, and facilitates access to archived copies of websites and social media that are official and permanent records of the University of Kentucky; that are relevant to Special Collections Research Center (SCRC) collection priorities; and that support university faculty and student research and teaching. The SCRC uses the web archiving service Archive-It. Since 2018, we have crawled 4.7 TB of data, 82,395,451 documents, and one web server in ten web archives collections:
If you have a Kentucky-related or University of Kentucky-related website or social media account that you believe has historical value and should be preserved, tell us about it using this form. We'll review it and get back to you. And thanks!
In most cases, content on official University of Kentucky websites and social media are public records. The retention and disposition of public records at UK is governed by the State University Model Records Retention Schedule. For captured websites and social media that are outside of the UK domain, we have permission to preserve and save this content through deeds of gift, and we make every reasonable effort to ensure compliance with current copyright law. If you feel that we have captured your website in error and want it removed from our web archives collections, please contact us.
You may come across language in University of Kentucky Libraries Special Collections Research Center collections and online resources that you find harmful or offensive. SCRC collects materials from different cultures and time periods to preserve and make available the historical record. These materials document the time period when they were created and the view of their creator. As a result, some may demonstrate racist and offensive views that do not reflect the values of UK Libraries.
If you find description with problematic language that you think SCRC should review, please contact us.
