Women in African History: Home

A special topic guide for researching women in Africa from a historical perspective

Getting Started

'

Project Description - Dr. Hilary Jones

Learning about the role of women in African history means moving beyond a general image of African womanhood byconsidering women as actors in the making of the past rather than as marginal and often silent figures.  For the “Project” you will have the opportunity to conduct research and produce an original piece of writing on a topic related to either a theme that we are addressing in this class or a method for researching African women’s stories.

The purpose of this guide is to support your research efforts by highlighting relevant resources, library tools, and collections.
