Finding a Dissertation or Master’s Thesis

As the official digital dissertations archive for the Library of Congress, ProQuest Dissertations and Theses includes millions of searchable citations to dissertations and theses from 1861 to the present day with over a million full-text dissertations. The database offers full text for most dissertations added since 1997 and retrospective full-text coverage for older graduate works.
- Enter keywords significant to your topic.
- Consider limiting to full-text if you wish to read any part of the dissertation (bibliographies can be very helpful).
- Consider limiting the publication date to the last 10 years.
- Then, click the Search button.
- Once you’ve scanned your list of search results and chosen to review one of them, you can locate the abstract by clicking on the “Abstract/Details” tab directly above the embedding full-text dissertation.
- If you want to download the pdf or generate a citation for the dissertation, click on the appropriate button in the upper right corner of your screen.
