Open Educational Resources Panel

Upcoming: OER Author Panel

Join us for a conversation with UK faculty about their experiences writing open educational resources! The panelists represent a range of departments and are all recipients of the OER Grant Program. They will describe their projects, discuss the realities of the work, and share advice for those considering authoring OER.

The panel will be held March 5, 2pm-3pm on Zoom. Register here.

What Are Open Educational Resources?

Open educational resources (OER) are materials used for educational purposes that are free for anyone to access. They are also licensed to enable uses such as sharing and revising. OER can be textbooks, syllabi, test banks, homework assignments, articles, podcasts, videos, slides, and more.

The short video below introduces the general concepts of open educational resources.

The video below is a brief report on research on the effectiveness and perceptions of OER as compared to commercial textbooks.
