One of the most well known ancient philosophers outside the Western tradition, Confucius (551-479 BC) was an important Chinese thinker and the founder of Confucianism. Confucius dealt with a wide variety of subjects, including ethics, politics, filial piety, human relationships, and the pursuit of knowledge. While Confucianism is often considered a religion, many have argued Confucius's teachings are more applicable to a whole way of life, and his teachings are still revered in China and throughout the world.
