Are you a reader? Your local public library is great resource for (free, of course!) recreational reading material!

If you are here in Lexington, Lexington Public Library is your local library, with several branches around town. The main (downtown) branch is the one closest to campus. 
Library cards are generally available to any local residents (including UK students who are from out-of-state).

In addition to traditional paper books, you can also borrow ebooks, audio books, digital versions of magazines, and video.

Joseph Beth Booksellers      

Joseph Beth is an independent bookseller with a large, beautiful store here in Lexington. They have all the new bestsellers and a deep backlist. It's at Lexington Green, on Nicholasville Road: there are author events, large sections for new children's books and cookbooks, and tons of contemporary fiction and non-fiction.

There are also Half-Price Books and Barnes & Noble locations in town, including the large B&N at the UK Bookstore! Check out some pleasure reads next time you are standing in line at the Gatton Student Center Starbucks!
