Account Guide for SCRC: Doing Research

Use your Researcher Account to request retrieval of SCRC materials so they are ready and waiting for you when you arrive at the Special Collections Research Center for your appointment. Since many of our collections are stored off-site we ask that you request materials a minimum of 5 business days in advance to ensure availability. Same day requests for materials on-site will be accepted until 3:30pm. Confirmed appointments are preferred, however walk-in visitors are welcome.

You can request SCRC materials a number of ways:

• Looking for archival materials? Submit a request from our collection guides in our digital archive, ExploreUK
• Looking for oral histories? Submit a request the Nunn Center for Oral History's database, SPOKE
• Looking for rare books and print materials? Submit a request from UK Libraries' catalog, Infokat

The UK Libraries Special Collections Research Center Research Room is open Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm. Appointments are recommended.

Planning your research visit is a two-step process:

1. Request SCRC materials using one of the SCRC databases, the UK Libraries catalog, or directly through your SCRC Researcher Account. Most materials are stored off-site so we ask you to submit requests at least five business days prior to ensure availability.
2. Schedule an appointment using the UK Libraries appointment system. Walk-ins are welcome.
