Account Guide for SCRC Research Services: Requesting SCRC Materials

Use this guide to learn how to activate your SCRC Research Account, schedule an appointment, request special collections materials for use in the Breckinridge Research Room, and order digital scans of special collections materials.

Beginning August 11, 2020, the UK Libraries Special Collections Research Center will be open by appointment only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Planning your research visit is now a two-step process:

  1. Scheduling an Appointment using the UK Libraries appointment system. Properly fitting masks are required.
  2. Requesting SCRC materials using one of the SCRC databases, the UK Libraries catalog, or directly through your SCRC Research Account.

How to request SCRC materials

Use your Research Account to request retrieval of SCRC materials so they are ready and waiting for you when you arrive at the Special Collections Research Center for your appointment. Since many of our collections are stored off-site, and we will be maintaining a quarantine period after materials have been delivered by our off-site courier service, we ask that you request materials at least 5 business days in advance to ensure availability. Same day requests for materials on-site are not accepted at this time and a confirmed appointment is required for all research visits.
