The Term: Lesbian News
The term "lesbian news" has been used to define news about lesbians. The term has also been used as the title of publications, with one of the earliest being the 1975 publication by Jinx Beers in West Hills, CA. For this libguide, the term "lesbian news" will be used to identify lesbian journalists and broadcasters, and the titles of current newspapers, newsletters, magazines, and other periodical publications with the main focus on lesbians.

Publication Titles
- AutostraddleFounded in March 2009 by Riese Bernard and Alexandra Vega. Intelligent, hilarious & provocative voice and a progressively feminist online community for multiple generations of kickass lesbian, bisexual & otherwise inclined ladies (and their friends).
- CurveFirst published in 1990 in San Francisco, the nation’s best-selling lesbian magazine. In 2010, Avalon Media LLC purchased Curve Magazine.
- DIVAFirst published in March 1994, monthly glossy newsstand magazine for lesbians and bi women in the United Kingdom.
- Lesbian ConnectionPublished bimonthly since 1974. Mailed via snail mail in plain brown envelopes. A grassroots publication that covers much about lesbians. Operates on donations received from their readers.
- Lesbian Herstory Archives NewsletterPublished from within the community, and provide news, updates, information and all kinds of resources. Issues online from the 1970s to early 2000s.
- Lesbian NewsFounded in 1975, Lesbian News Magazine is North America's longest running lesbian publication, serving as the foremost voice for lesbians of all ages.
- Lesbian News AotearoaBased in Aukland, New Zealand. Lesbian News Aotearoa is the online name of the Tāmaki Makaurau Lesbian Newsletter, which was printed monthly from September 1990. We publish news, profiles, pictures, events, analysis and debate of interest to lesbians and queer women, usually at the beginning of the month.
- LOTLEstablished in 1989. Formerly known as Lesbians on the Loose, first published as an eight-page newsletter. LOTL is a free to street monthly magazine distributed in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. Focus on community events, entertainment, political and social developments, and local lesbian life in Australia.
- QWOC MediaQueer Women of Color Media Wire (QWOC Media Wire) is a media publishing and advocacy organization that amplifies the voices of Lesbian, Bisexual, Queer, Transgender women and gender non-conforming people of color, diaspora, and other racial and ethnic minorities around the world.
- The Seattle LesbianDaily online newspaper operating from offices in the Pacific Northwest. Content with substantial relevancy on various angles of discussion and advocacy.

- Cathy RennaMedia relations and communications expert. Formerly the primary spokesperson for GLAAD, where she was the organization's first National News Media Director.
- Clare BaldingBroadcaster, journalist, and author. Presenter on BBC Sport, Channel 4, BT Sport and the religious/spiritual programe Good Morning Sunday on BBC Radio 2.
- Frieda WerdenCo-founder and producer of the weekly radio series WINGS: Women's International News Gathering Service, which debuted in 1986. Served as president of the International Association of Women in Radio and Television.
- Jenna WolfeTV journalist and lifestyle and fitness expert, formerly with Today Show, NBC. She and her partner Stephanie Gosk have two daughters.
